Gonçalo Figueira is a PhD student at GoLP/IPFN, supervised by Hugo Pires and Gonçalo Figueira. He joined GoLP in 2020 as an intern, and in the following year started his MSc thesis in nonlinear optics in the mid-infrared.

In 2022 he started his PhD in Physics after winning a competitive international call for a PhD scholarship (APPLAuSE). This program included a 6 month secondment at the CLF / Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (UK)), during which he designed and simulated a front-end system for VULCAN 20-20 project, whose goal is to develop a 20 PW beamline.
