Hugo Pires is an Assistant Researcher at IPFN and Invited Assistant Professor at the Physics Department of IST.

He worked as a posdoctoral researcher at ICFO Barcelona, in the Attosecond Ultrafast Optics group (2014-2015) and then at IPFN (2016-2018), where he become Assistant Researcher in 2019.

He was awarded the “Excellent Teacher” distinction at IST in 2020, 2022 and 2023. He published over 20 articles in journals, supervised four MSc theses, co-supervised one Ph.D. thesis and is supervising one PhD thesis presently.
